Call for Applications: PhD Program in Law, Ethics and Development

As part of the collaborative research agreement between the Yaoundé ETHICSLAB (Université Catholique d'Afrique Central, Cameroon) and the University of Glasgow School of Law (Scotland, UK), we are accepting applications for a PhD candidate. This is a 3 year funded PhD grant that will allow the candidate to benefit from joint supervision and stay at both Glasgow University and Yaoundé EthicsLab. This grant will enable candidate to broaden and deepen their theoretical, methodological and empirical
knowledge, as well as academic skills in the field of Law, Ethics and Development. By cutting across disciplinary boundaries, it engages both national and international legal orders and processes for tackling development, which are increasingly exposed as
inadequate. Due to the interdisciplinary approach of the study program, each topic has to be related to Law, Ethics or Development. The selection committee is particularly keen on applicants addressing issues around law and development. In particular topics addressing the relationship between rights, development and vulnerability; alternatives to development; international migration and global justice.

The application deadline is April 1st, 2020 and all application material to be submitted in electronic form to ethicslab@ucac-icy.net. Please note that this is a full time research position and the selected candidate will be based at the Yaoundé EthicsLab (University
Central African Catholic, Cameroon). Candidate must be proficient in English with a functional knowledge of French. Selected candidates will be contacted in mid-April 2020 for an interview.

1. Cover letter (max. Two pages).
2. A short description of the intended topic of the dissertation with a detailed
methodology section (max. 5 pages).
3. Curriculum vitae (in English, max. Three pages).
4. Copy of University degree diploma (s) and evidence of all completed university
programs (Bachelor's / Master's certificate).
5. Two reference letters (preferable from academic supervisors).
